Ti launched the first series of integrated three-phase brushless motor front-end driver

Ti integrated three-phase brushless motor front-end driver can drive up to 60 a FET and sharply reduce the board level space by 60%. The integrated step-down regulator and dual channel current induction amplifier can reduce the board level space and reduce the bill of materials cost and system complexity

September 14, 2011, Beijing - recently, Texas Instruments (TI) announced the launch of the first new series of integrated three-phase brushless motor front-end drivers. The drv8301 is the most integrated front-end driver in the market at present. Compared with the integrated solution with the closest performance, it can sharply reduce the board level space by 60%. It can drive external FETs below 10 A to 60 A, support current scalability, higher heat dissipation performance, and higher efficiency in Brushless DC (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) applications (such as ventilation pumps, medical pumps, commercial refrigerator refrigeration systems, robots, electric tools, electric bicycles, and other high torque industrial motor control applications)

the highly integrated drv8301 can improve reliability, reduce board level space and bill of materials, and reduce system complexity. In addition to the fully protected three-phase brushless grid driver, it also includes a 1.5 a step-down regulator that supplies power to system microprocessors (MCU) such as C2000 Piccolo, two current sensing amplifiers that can provide integrated input and feedback resistors for current measurement, as well as tensile testing machines used to detect the tensile properties of materials through MCU rubber tensile testing machines, many SPI interfaces for device configuration, etc

main features and advantages

three phase brushless grid driver: provide grid driving current of 1.7 a source and 2.3 a sink through a single power supply of 8 V to 60 V, and adjust the voltage swing rate and dead time to optimize performance

1.5 a step-down regulator: the working voltage is between 3.5 V and 60 V, and the regulator can supply power to MCU or other system components

2 bidirectional current induction Amplifiers: including adjustable gain, output offset and DC correction circuit system, which can reduce board level space and reduce system cost. DC calibration 3 For users who often use friction force measurement system, the positive circuit system can minimize DC offset and temperature drift, and improve motor performance

comprehensive protection: Level 2 heat dissipation, cycle by cycle overcurrent protection, undervoltage and through protection that provides detailed fault feedback can reduce the design complexity and improve the system reliability

tools and support

high current assessment Kit (drv8301-hc-c2-kit) is now available. The kit includes drv8301 motor driver, 32-bit C2000 Piccolo MCU controlcard module, quick start graphical user interface (GUI), comprehensive development source code, Code Composer Studio (ccstudio) integrated development environment (IDE), etc. A variety of GUI and reference items are applicable to drv8301-hc-c2-kit, including irregular quadrilateral sensorless and Sensorless Field Oriented Control (FOC)

the 32-bit C2000 Piccolo MCU controlcard module provided with the drv8301 Evaluation Kit provides ti's latest instaspin BLDC sensorless motor control solution. This unique post electromagnetic field (EMF) technology enables designers to start the motor within seconds without knowing the motor parameters

engineers can support community consultation through Ti technology and help solve technical problems:

the annual sales of molds account for more than 70% of the total sales of molds in China. The packaging and supply of drv8301 with 14mm x 8.1mm htssop packaging has now begun to supply. In order to simplify the hardware based device configuration, the integrated three-phase brushless motor front-end driver drv8302 will be available in the third quarter of 2011

ti has rich experience in motor drive and control, and has launched various series of analog and microprocessor products, as well as comprehensive tools, software and support, which can provide efficient, high reliable and low-cost motor solutions. Customers can get the ideal solution with the best performance, including AC induction (ACIM), brush DC, brushless DC (BLDC), PMSM and stepping motors
